I am so thankful for words of encouragement that come my way as I attempt to serve God as a member of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship's Global Field Personnel team. There are some 135 of us working to share Christ all over the world.
This past weekend I had the privilege of being with North Brunswick Fellowship Church in Leland, NC. This is a CBF church start from 2003 and a very passionate group of people. As I shared with these friends about my work with the homeless and those who are "least of these," I was encouraged. You see, this church wants to change the entire direction they have been going because they feel a sense of calling to work with those who are less fortunate. I made some new friends in eastern NC.
Sunday was a day of excitement for me as I met with my encourager church, Edenton Baptist Church, in Edenton, NC. A missionary certainly needs encouragement when doing God's tasks. To walk into the church and be greeted by my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and to receive kind words of encouragement and prayers gave me the encouragement to go back out there today. Edenton Baptist Church has become home to me. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve along side these fine people of eastern NC.
This evening I felt like going to the gym to work off some holiday eating. When I returned I opened the mail box to find two cards. The RA's (boy's mission group) from First Baptist Church, Southern Pines, NC had sent me two beautiful Christmas Cards. One young RA Lad named Philip said "The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid." As I read these words written in Philip's own hand I felt the encouragement from a young boy whom I have never met. Young David's card told me that "my group and me will be thinking of you guys." Thank you young men for encouraging me today. I hope I can come for a visit soon. I want to shake your hand.
Our work progresses and our network is just 5 months old now. Thank you for your many acts of encouragement. Thank you for your prayers as we all serve the Lord here in North Carolina.
